"It Takes a Village" Gatherings

Since 2010, the PTSA has collected "Be the Influence" Parent Pledges from parents committing to take action against teen alcohol and other drug use.  This has included expressing an interest in hosting or attending "coffee chats". The "coffee chats" have been renamed this year to "It Takes a Village" Gatherings and can be scheduled during the day or evening hours to accommodate different parents' schedules. The gatherings, which will be scheduled over the school year, are an opportunity to meet fellow Redwood parents, provide support and ideas to one another and build a sense of community to combat teen drinking and other drug use.  The gatherings may be as informal or structured as the host wishes.  A short video, “Wasted in Marin” may be shown, or experts in the field of adolescent alcohol and other drug prevention may be present, to spur and facilitate discussion.  These gatherings may be organized by grade, neighborhood, sports teams or other common activities.

Please email parented@redwoodptsa.org if you are interested in either hosting or attending an "It Takes a Village Gathering" and provide the information at the bottom of the Parent Pledge.
