About the Superintendent

Laurie Kimbrel has been Superintendent of the Tamalpais Union High School District since August 2008. Prior to becoming Superintendent of TUHSD, she served as as the Associate Superintendent for Grayslake Community High School District 127 in Grayslake, Illinois, in the Chicago suburban area. She has 18 years experience in the field of education in a variety of roles including Special Education Teacher, Dean of Students, Associate Principal, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction. She also has served as an adjunct professor in the Graduate School of Education for National Louis University and as a Grant Reader for the US Department of Education.

Kimbrel earned a Bachelor of Science with majors in music and business from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Dominican University, Illinois; a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from National Louis University; and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Loyola University, Chicago. Dr. Kimbrel has also completed post-doctoral studies focused on the role of the Superintendent at Loyola University, Chicago. (2008-Aug)
