UCSF will be offering pre-participation physicals to any incoming freshmen, or transfer students who wish to play a fall sport and DO NOT have a physical from their primary care physician by Aug 1st. If interested please contact Tam Athletic Trainer, Aubrey Yanda email@example.com to reserve a time slot for these physicals. These physicals will be held at Redwood HS at 1pm on August 1st 2014.
Attention 8th graders and their parents:
Planning on participating in athletics next year in high school?
Here is some very important information you need to know.
Initial Scholastic Eligibility
In order to be eligible, any student entering from the 8th grade into a CIf four-year high school must have achieved an unweighted 2.0 grade-point average, on a 4.0 scale, in enrolled courses at the conclusion of the previous grading period.
What if you don’t have a 2.0? You will not be allowed to participate on any team until after the first grading period where you achieve a 2.0 or higher.
Schools will require that a student receive an annual physical examination conducted by a medical practitioner certifying that the student is physically fit to participate in athletics. The report of the examination will be on a school board-approved form that includes a health history. The physical examination must be completed before a student my try out, practice or participate in interscholastic athletic competition. Appointments for physicals can take some time to book, so do it now. The physical should occur after June 15th and is good for one year.
Fall athletics start early this upcoming fall. Football practice officially starts August 11th. All other fall sports practices begin on August 18th.
