MEET P2P, PARENT-TO-PARENT CONNECTION!

Parent-to-Parent Connection ("P2P”) is a support group for parents of Tamalpais Union High School (“TUHSD”) students with learning challenges, including students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans. Parents of any students who are struggling or out of the mainstream in high school may benefit from the resources and speakers presented at our monthly Wednesday evening meetings.

P2P is organized and run by TPAC (Tamalpais Parent Advisory Committee), made up of parent representatives from each of the five high TUHSD schools (Redwood, Tam, Drake, Tamiscal and San Andreas), plus two district representatives. P2P’s meetings offer education and information from professional speakers on a wide variety of topics relating to students with learning issues, such as

  • How to optimize your student’s academic and social high school experience;

  • Impact of the High School Exit Exam and Graduation outcomes;

  • College and non-college post-graduation options for students not “on the Ivy League track.”

P2P meetings also provide support and guidance to new parents from parents with students already in high school. This year we plan to have informal parent discussion and mingling time for one half-hour prior to each P2P meeting, from 6:30-7:00pm.

In addition to providing support and education, P2P also acts as your liaison with the District. A parent representative from each high school meets monthly with the TUHSD District Directors of Instruction and of Special Education. The 2007-08 representatives are:

P2P’s Coordinators are Janet Miller janetm@ri.net.com and Sandra Tanner Mack, stmack@pacbell.net.

• You should feel free to e-mail your site representative with your concerns about special learning issues at your school.
To receive e-mails about p2p meetings and other educational events and opportunities offered by organizations similar to p2p, e-mail p2p@tamdistrict.org

Join our mailing list!
p2p maintains an e-mail list of parents who would like to be reminded of the monthly meetings and are interested in occasionally receiving notice of educational events and opportunities offered by other organizations similar to p2p.
To join, please send an e-mail to p2p@tamdistrict.org
