School is just around the corner.
Aug 17: First day of School! It is full of activities
ACADEMIC GOALS FOR THE MONTH:
Set your own personal goals for success in academics & personal life. Write them down and share them with parents, teachers & counselor (studies show that writing goals positively correlates to achieving them)
Plan out your daily schedule so you have time to complete homework, enjoy family time and get to sleep early
Read the Pirate News every Monday
Plan an activities schedule that may include: athletics, drama, music, student government, clubs, a job or community service. Discuss it with your parents and determine priorities to maintain balance
Set a goal of achieving excellent attendance. Attendance positively correlates to academic success.
SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL GOALS FOR THE MONTH:
Take some time for yourself to hike, share a hot chocolate with friends, or just loll in the hammock & daydream
Join an athletic team, or just come out and cheer on your peers and meet some new friends
PARENTING TIPS/OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE MONTH:
Encourage your student to have at least one conversation with an adult on campus (teacher, counselor, etc.) so that s/he can practice effective communication skills

Set up Phone Boundaries for your student. For example: No phones at dinner, Phones off at 9 pm
