The Common Application allows students to complete one application and have access to over 600 colleges.  All transcripts, counselor reports, mid-year reports and letters of recommendation are handled electronically by Tamiscal with the Common Application.

There are over seventy private colleges and universities in California, each having their own unique character and strengths. Over 200,000 students attend these schools. Approximately 1/4 of California’s undergraduate degrees are earned by private school students, 1/2 of California’s master’s and Ph.D degrees, and 3/4 of California’s professional degrees. AICCU provides more information about California’s independent colleges and universities.  You can find additional information about both private and public colleges at the California Colleges' website.

Students applying to private colleges will often need letters of recommendation and/or a counselor letter. Please complete the letter of recommendation packet by the deadline to ensure that your letter is ready on time. Please check the Reference Page of this site to access the Letter or Recommendation packet.

National searches for colleges, both public and private, can be found on many websites.  Students may want to start a search either through Naviance or the College Board to match their selection criteria with available schools. Other good search locations are:
