• Spiro Tsingaris

     

    Spiro Tsingaris was born in San Francisco and grew up in San Mateo. He has been a member of the Bluegrass/Folk/Gospel Group Fret Not for over 25 years as their Fiddle player and Male vocalist. He has also performed as a member of the San Francisco Symhpony Chorus under the direction of Vance George and Michael Tilson Thomas. Spiro studied choral conducting under Dr. Joshua Habermann and Vocal Pedagogy under Prof. Dewey Camp. 

    Spiro has served as the Choral Director at First Baptist Church of San Francisco and has been a guest lecturer at the Lark Theater's Great Films Great Scores series. He has taught at Bayside Middle School for the Arts in San Mateo and at the International Christian School in San Francisco. Currently, Spiro is an Assistant Conductor with the San Francisco Boys Chorus.

    He holds his Bachelor of Music in Choral Conducting and his Master of Arts in Vocal Music Education.

    Spiro has served as the Music Director at Tamalpais High School for the past 20 years. Under his direction Tam reinstituted a vocal music curriculum after more than a decade off, tripled music enrollement and began the Music Guest Artist program, introducing music proffessionals to Tam's music students for individual and small ensemble coaching.

    Past students of Mr. T have gone on to study at the Manhattan School of Music, Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory, Oberlin College, San Francsico Conservatory of Music and the Juilliard School.

    Spiro lives in San Rafael with his wife and three children.
