About The Non-profit Organizations That Support Tam High
Tam High is fortunate to have great support from our community. We have a number of non-profits that support Tam, including the Tam High Foundation (THF), Tam’s primary fundraising organization, the specialized organizations, and the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), Tam’s primary advocacy and support organization. Together, we raise approximately $1,000,000 annually in support of our students, staff, and programs. While our students are learning from home, we remain committed to continuing to provide the same services and support that we always have, albeit remotely. Please donate here via DonatePal.
Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA)We have an active PTSA that supports the Tam community and we will continue to do so whether our students are learning remotely or are back at school. The PTSA volunteers provide this newsletter, What's Up, each Sunday while school is in session. In addition, we provide:
Funding advocacy will be especially important this year with the budget strain from the Coronavirus coupled with the expiration of our parcel taxes. The larger our membership, the more power we have to advocate on behalf of our students, so please join today. It takes just a minute to join and costs $10. Your membership matters! THF (Tam High Foundation)The Tam High Foundation is the overarching fundraising entity which provides programs to support academic excellence and the emotional and physical well-being for the entire student body.Working in partnership with Tam High faculty and staff, Tam High Foundation funds grants which support innovative programs, state-of-the-art tools and equitable educational opportunities, ensuring that we can provide every student with a pathway to success. With generous community support, our efforts make Tam High both a top academic high school and an extraordinary experience.
Tam Boosters (athletics)Tam Athletics is the largest extra-curricular program at Tam High. Every year more than 40% of the student body participates in Tam Athletics and the majority of these athletes will compete in at least two seasons of sport. The benefits of high school athletics for athletes are many: growing as an athlete, learning the life lessons that athletics can inspire, and carrying the friendships and memories forever. High school athletics can also benefit the greater community by providing a rallying point for school pride.
CTE (drama)CTE produces six main-stage plays, two large one act festivals and other events for fundraising and community building such as a 24 hour Playwriting Festival, an Improv-A-Thon and the Drama Banquet. CTE will be presenting their full play season through student produced filmed performances and podcasts. In 20-21 we will also still be offering our theatre artist workshops with 15 amazing theatre professionals. Please visit our website regularly to keep up on dates and events, and, most importantly, come see the shows! PATH (Visual Arts)PATH (Patrons of the Arts at Tam High) is a parent-run organization that supplements district funding for the Tam High Visual Arts program. Remote learning has dramatically increased the amount of supplies needed. We are suggesting a donation of $100/art class. If you cannot donate that, please donate what you are able. And if you can support another student, please donate more.We are also seeking volunteers in the following areas: (1) help find new ways (such as online) to exhibit student art, (2) fundraising and (3) help with events once we are back on campus. Please contact Jenny Silva if you have questions.
THUMB (music)The Music Department at Tam High provides a rich and diverse environment for student musicians to learn about and create music in many forms. The Music Department boasts many award winning ensembles and has a long history of musical excellence. Students have the opportunity to play in a full symphonic orchestra or string orchestra; sing in the chorus and chamber choirs; play in the wind ensemble or a jazz big band with smaller jazz ensembles; play in rock oriented small ensembles or a percussion ensemble; or learn a new instrument in the beginner/intermediate band. There are many ways to support Tam Music. You can join THUMB (Tam High United Music Boosters), attend our concerts, provide a donation during our annual Phone-a-thon, and make a donation today.
