    FIRE

¨¹       When the fire alarm sounds, evacuate students out of your room.  Follow the path designated by the map posted in your classroom to the baseball field and line up with your department.  Keep your students with you at all times.  In a real emergency, it is critical to account for each student.

¨¹       In the event of a planned drill, lock and secure your rooms.  Otherwise, close classroom windows
but do not lock classroom doors.

¨¹       Take the following with you: class rosters, pencil, red emergency backpack and department sign.

¨¹       Teachers - take roll at the baseball field.  Report the names of the students who are missing or unaccounted for to your department chair.  Department chairs ¨C report this to administration.

¨¹       Do not let students leave.  Keep your class together.

¨¹       Return to class only after the all-clear bell has rung. Take roll again.

¨¹       If an alarm sounds during class time, students must remain with that teacher.  If during break, lunch, before or after school, students should report to their tutorial teacher on the baseball field.

¨¹       Classified personnel and teachers with no class at the time of the evacuation should assist with prompt and orderly clearance of the halls and buildings.

    EARTHQUAKE

¨¹       Initiate DUCK, COVER AND HOLD ON upon first indication of an earthquake.  Keep away from windows and other dangerous objects.

¨¹       When the earthquake is over, evacuate the building with your class if you have been advised to do so or if you determine that it is safe to do so.  Keep students away from buildings.

¨¹       In the event of a planned drill, lock and secure your rooms.  Otherwise, close classroom windows

    CRISIS IN PROGRESS/STRANGER ON CAMPUS

A Crisis in Progress can include a variety of issues including stranger on campus or campus disturbance that requires students and staff remain indoors until the situation is normalized. The signal will be an announcement over the PA system of ¡°Tamalpais High School ¨C Please Lock Down.¡±

¨¹       Everyone in the building should immediately stay in or enter the nearest classroom or office.  Avoid, if possible, large open areas such as the library, gym, lawns or parking lots.

¨¹       Explain to the students there is an emergency.

¨¹       Lock the door, close the curtains, cover all windows and turn off the lights.

¨¹       Move people to a safe area of the room, away from windows and doors.  Keep students very quiet.

¨¹       Remain in a safe, secure area, ignoring all bells until given an ¡°All Clear¡± signal by intercom or runner.  Periodically check our voicemail and e-mail for updates.

¨¹       If you seem to be the first person to observe one of these situations, dial 8-911 from any inside phone.  Be certain to tell the 911 operator where you are in the school.

    ¨¹       Next, dial x3510 (380-3510) or x3512 (380-3512) or x 3528 (380-3528) to alert administration to the situation.

¨¹       If a lockdown happens during break, lunch, before or after school, students should enter the nearest classroom or office.  Students who are off campus should remain off campus in a safe location.

Reminder:  An announcement over the PA will signal that the crisis is over (¡°All Clear¡±).

Procedures for flood, explosion, chemical accident, animal disturbance, severe windstorm, loss of utilities, bomb threat, fallen aircraft, and war are covered in the Emergency Handbook.
