The Tam High music department provides a rich and diverse environment for student musicians to learn about and create music in many forms.  The Music Department boasts of many award winning ensembles and has a long history of musical excellence. Students have the opportunity to play in a full Symphonic Orchestra or a String Orchestra; to sing in the Chorus and ChamberChoirs; or to play in the Wind Ensemble or a Jazz Big Band with smaller Jazz Ensembles or smaller rock oriented guitar and percussion Ensembles; or to learn a new instrument in the Beginner/Intermediate band.

These ensembles perform locally as well as travel, most notably to New York City to perform regularly in the Heritage Festival.

To achieve this high level of performance the Tam High Music Department has access to a number of professional musicians who teach classes and workshops and participate in performances. These guest artists are present in the classroom several times a week and are generously funded by the Tam High Foundation.

The Tam High Music Department also provides scholarships through student auditions. These scholarships reward student musicians for hard work and allow the scholarship recipients to enhance their music education.

We encourage the Tam High community and general public to come and enjoy music performances throughout the school year.  We count on the support of of our THUMB members and the generous support of our audience and friends. There are many ways to support Tam Music. You can join THUMB, attend our concerts, support our annual click-a-thon (formerly phone-a-thon), and even make a donation today on this webite.
