Mock Test Opportunities for the 2021-22 School YearThe College & Career Center schedules several dates each year whereby sophomores, juniors, and seniors can take full-length practice ACTs and SATs. It is recommended that students try a practice ACT and a practice SAT at some point during their sophomore or junior year in order to decide which test they prefer. These practice tests, proctored by local test prep companies, offer students the opportunity to become familiar with the format, length and types of questions asked on the "official" ACT and SAT tests.Juniors only:
- Practice ACT: Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm - Registration deadline is Oct. 4 at 12:00 pm
- Practice SAT: Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm - Registration deadline is Oct. 18 at 12:00 pm
Regular-time and 50% extended time will both be options for these exams. To register, please sign up here: https://www.compassprep.com/schools/archie-williams/
Please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or concerns. Please note that these practice tests are not the same as the PSAT/NMSQT (administered by College Board). Taking the PSAT/NMSQT automatically qualifies juniors for the National Merit Scholarship, National Hispanic Recognition Program, and other scholarships. The timing of the PSAT/NMSQT is shorter than the official SAT as it is only 2 hours and 45 minutes long, whereas the regular SAT is a little over 3 hours when you add in the breaks.Winning a National Merit Scholarship is a fairly difficult undertaking. Each year, the NMSC screens approximately 1.5 million qualifying entrants. Of those entrants, only about 16,000 students will be named Semifinalists based on their PSAT scores and other achievements.
