GRADUATION ALTERNATIVES

GENERAL EDUCATION DIPLOMA (GED)

Students who are 18 years or older may take the General Education Development Exam.  Students who pass the GED test are awarded a high school equivalency certificate by the California State Department of Education.

For GED test information including scheduling, fees and test locations visit the California Department of Education website. Applications and more information also may be obtained at the Counseling Office of your school.

CALIFORNIA PROFICIENCY PROGRAM (CPP)

The California Proficiency Program is offered to second semester sophomores who are sixteen years of age and are seeking an alternative to the standard high school diploma. Students who pass the CPP are awarded a proficiency certificate by the California State Department of Education. Any student under 18 years of age who is interested in taking the CPP needs parental permission. Information about the CPP is located on the California Department of Education website HERE.

ADULT SCHOOL DIPLOMA

Tamalpais Adult School is a WASC accredited school that prepares students, 18 years or older, to successfully pass the GED exam or earn high school subject credit towards a high school diploma.  For information about adult school classes and programs call: 415-945-3780.
