STUDENT ____________________________________________ COURSE 2147: PRECALCULUS 7

I. Student Learning Outcomes
All Tamiscal courses share the purpose of helping the student read, write, speak, and solve problems effectively. All courses within the Mathematics department work toward developing the student’s ability to formulate and answer questions about mathematical concepts, to apply these concepts to problem-solving situations, to use technology including the Graphics Calculator for investigations and to illustrate findings, to develop algebraic and geometric skills, and to expand logical and abstract thinking.
For this course, students will demonstrate proficiencies in the following activities.

II. Activities
Upon the completion of this course, the students will have mastered 1) functions and their graphs 2) polynomials and rational functions 3) exponential and logarithmic functions 4) trigonometric functions 5) analytic trigonometry 7) integrating problem solving and applications with the graphing calculator.

With successful completion of the two semesters of PreCalculus 7 and PreCalculus 8 with a C- or higher, the student will have completed one year of the District’s mathematics graduation requirement, and the District’s prerequisite for AP Calculus or Statistics 7.

III. Resources
In addition to the textbook, students are expected to utilize Tamiscal Homepage links, the internet, Electric Library, District and County libraries, CDs, Videos, and relevant media. Students will need to have access to a scientific calculator or a graphing calculator.

IV. Assessments
Assignments for this course will include preparation for meeting District Outcome Assessments. For the purposes of evaluation and grading during the course, the following methods may be used: weekly assignments; projects; laboratory work; written reports; presentations; participation; quizzes and exams. Students will be informed of the grading criteria at the beginning of each semester.
Students enrolled in this course will participate in all required District Assessments. For graduation from the Tamalpais Union High School District, students will demonstrate proficiencies in the STAR test (in Mathematics) and the Mathematics Performance Assessment.

V. Duration
The agreement is effective until the end of the current semester.

VI. Progress Monitoring
Progress will be monitored at weekly meetings; therefore, attendance is required. Missed appointments, tests, and assignments will result in partial course credits and may result in required attendance to Supervised Independent Study (SIS).
Grades and credits will be reported at the quarter and at the end of the semester.
I accept the terms of this agreement
