    The Redwood Boys Varsity Volleyball team competes during the spring season in the Marin County Athletic League, the California Interscholastic Federation North Coast Section, and regional tournaments.  The program won the Marin County Athletic League Championship in 3 of the last 4 years (2019, 2017, 2016, 1999, and 1998; No Championships were held in 2020 or 2021 due to the global pandemic.).  An information session was be held on January 13, 2021.  We will have a few Open Gyms the weeks of January 24 and January 31.  Team tryouts will be held the week of February 7, 2022.  Visit www.RedwoodVolleyball.com to keep up to date with the latest information.




    Redwood Boys Varsity Volleyball will be led by first-year head coach Benjamin Wang in 2022.  Ben was a 2-time NCAA National Champion and 4-year varsity letterman at UCLA.  He played for UCLA's storied volleyball program under legendary head coach Al Scates.  He also served as a student-athlete representative on the UCLA Bruin Athletic Council advising the UCLA Director of Athletics and University Chancellor on policies related to the NCAA and intercollegiate athletics.  In high school, Ben won a CIF LA City Section Championship while earning All-League and All-City honors, and in his senior year he was named to the Volleyball Monthly Magazine Fab 50 list.  Ben has worked for over 25 years in the capital management and technology industries while coaching youth sports at various levels.  He currently coaches club volleyball at Pacific Rim Volleyball Academy and CYO basketball in Marin County.

    • Volleyball Pre-Season -- Open Gyms (optional)

    Date: January 25, 27, and 29 and February 1, 3, and 5 (tentative and subject to change)

    Details:  Everyone is welcome to come play volleyball.  We are planning some informal and optional pre-season open gyms during the second half of January and early February before tryouts.  More information will be posted here and sent to the Redwood Volleyball Distribution List when it is available.   Contact Coach Ben Wang with any questions.

    • 2022 MCAL League and Playoff Game Schedule

    The Redwood Boys Varsity Volleyball league game and playoff schedule (as of 1/15/2022) is posted below.  The up-to-date schedule can be accessed by clicking on the image below.  Please note that additional games, scrimmages, and/or tournaments are still being scheduled and will be added to the calendar soon.  The iCal link below can also be used to add the team schedule directly in your calendar.

    The Redwood Boys Varsity Volleyball practice schedule is being planned and details will be posted here. 

    • Regular practices are anticipated to run from about 6-7:45pm each Monday and Wednesday, and 4-6pm on Friday afternoons.
    • Regular practices will be held in the Redwood Small Gym through February and the Redwood Main Gym starting in March.
    • Special outdoor training sessions on sand or grass volleyball courts are anticipated to be planned (usually on Friday's as the weather warms up) to help players advance their speed, endurance, ball control, and all-around game.
