Mrs. Laurie Hailer

I have been teaching at Drake since 2011. I am a Drake grad and so are my husband and two daughters. GO PIRATES!

I have a master's degree in Economics and another master's degree in Education. I am credentialed in Mathematics and Economics. I've also taught math at Davidson Middle School in San Rafael and San Domenico Upper School in San Anselmo.  At Davidson, I served as Department Chair. I've taught part-time at College of Marin, in the Business Department. While at COM, I served on the Academic Senate (elected).

Prior to teaching, I worked in the finance and credit industry. I've worked for FICO (the company that writes software to generate your credit score) and Wells Fargo Bank, doing quantitative anayltics in a B2B setting. I've worked on bankruptcy prediction models and done some organizational consulting for commercial lending.

I'm currently serving on the Program Committee for the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). This past June, I met with the NCTM President and other committee members to plan for the 2019 Regional Conferences. I am specifically working on the Nashville Conference scheduled for October, 2019 and have helped out with reading proposals for the National Conference in San Diego in April of 2019.

I've published some studies through my education and prior work experience as an analyst/statistician for University of Califormia, Berkeley and San Francisco campuses.

Partial list of publications:

Master's Thesis for Education - on Algebra II: http://scholar.dominican.edu/masters-theses/96/

Master's Thesis for Economics: Bay Area Business Taxes, a study on firm location decisions.

At UCSF, a longitudinal study of EMS workers: http://healthforce.ucsf.edu/publications/ems-workforce-21st-century-national-assessment

At UC Berkekley: co-authored with Mystique Felton:  Uninsured Californians and Access to Prescription Drugs, 2005

At UCSF, provided statistical analysis and co-authored the Board of Registered Nursing Survey: http://www.rn.ca.gov/pdfs/forms/survey2006.pdf

I also served in the Army, and have an Honorable Discharge. I think that's one of my best experiences, for a million reasons.

I really look forward to doing my best in getting your student to do their best!

Cheers,

Mrs. H
