Foster Youth School Placement

Students placed in a licensed foster placement or foster family home within the district will attend programs operated by the district unless the student has an IEP placing them at a non-public school or other education agency, or the person holding education rights determines it’s in the best interest of the student to be placed in another education program.  

Foster students may continue to attend their school of origin (the last school they attended prior to being placed into foster placement) for the duration of their foster placement and through high school graduation.  

When in the best interest of the foster student, placement at the school of origin may be waived and the foster student may be enrolled in the school in the attendance area they reside within.
