On September 18, 2013, a quarter acre of land on the Redwood campus was set aside by the TUHSD School Board for use as a sustainable farm. Run by
Sustainable Agriculture students (a
project based learning course since 2014), the farm is organically certified by CCOF and follows the principles of GROW BIOINTENSIVE, outlined in
How to Grow More Vegetables. SustAg seniors and others may concurrently enroll in Economics and Government to participate in SAGE Academy. SustAg students are eligible for 3.0 units of college credit through College of Marin.
The farm is also an important community project. During the school year, visit our monthly
markets and work days! Partnerships have also been established with local non-profits,
Indian Valley College Organic Farm, and local Master Gardeners. Parents, students, and community members are encouraged to get involved through school, the PTSA and Redwood Foundation, and Campus Beautification. Special thanks to the
Redwood Foundation for their generous initial support of our project.
