Northern NY, 20 miles from Candadian border. Closest town is Lake Placid, closest big city is Ottawa. Most fly into Syracuse Airport, 2 hour car ride.

 

10,000 residents in the town of Potsdam. Potsdam has a state university and students can cross-register. 

3500 students (500-600 graduate students, the rest undergrad); 773 incoming freshmen

 

Half study engineering; STEM focused; on Forbes olist as in the top 25 STEM schools, Flexible curriculum - customize their education, can create your own major, lots of options to major and minor; non-impacted 

Three colleges: Reh School of Business, Coulter School of Engineering, School of Arts & Sciences

Engineering & Management = popular major and well -respected, especially in the Northeast

Institute for Sustainable Enviornment - all environmetal programs are housed here

Lots of combining of majors/minors; pre-professional programs (advising and tracking to help you get into grad schools); health and pre-law  are part of the pre-professional programs.

 

All programs require co-op = internship or research project; twice yearly career fairs. Top employers are GE, IBM, NASA, Amazon, Tesla; 96% placed in job or graduate school within 6 months of graduation.

 

Div. 1 ice hockey for men and women; no football. Women's ice hockey have won titles; all other sports are division 3

12 SPEED Teams - students compete in programs; robotics team (special projects in engineering design)
