Dear Students & Parents,

Here are some upcoming college-related events that I hope you will check out:

Mon., Dec. 2

12:10 pm - 10,000 Degrees Information Meeting - Juniors with financial need are eligible to apply to be part of the 10,000 Degrees program. They offer year-round support and offer a summer institute on a college campus. Current seniors who work with 10,000 Degrees staff will be on hand to talk about their experiences. Pizza will be served. 


Tues., Dec. 3

11:40 am - U.S. Air Force Recruiter (Table by senior tree)

11:40 am - Scores Back Event for students who took the practice ACT or practice SAT on November 16. Parents of those students are also invited to attend if they have general questions about standardized tests.

5:30-7:00 pm - New World of College Admissions Testing (Student Center) - Sophomores, Juniors, and their parents are invited to an enlightening discussion of college admission tests and their role in the admission process.  


Thurs., Dec. 5

2:00 pm - College of Marin Application Session - Seniors planning to enroll at COM next fall can come and complete their online application. Younger Drake students interested in taking COM classes while a high school student can also attend if they sign up on Naviance two days before the date and have not already applied to COM previously.

2:55 pm - U.S. Army Recruiter (Table by senior tree)


Fri., Dec. 13

11:59 pm - Deadline to submit the Stanford University’s Young Women’s Leadership Summit Application (see Jan. 25 entry for details on the event)


Fri., Jan. 17

5:00 pm - Deadline for juniors to apply for USC’s Bovard Scholars Program - Juniors who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for this summer program at USC: 1)Currently hold a 4.0 GPA or above; 2)Enrolled in Algebra II, Trigonometry or above; 3)Demonstrate financial need. The program will run from July 12, 2020 through August 1, 2020. To learn more and to apply, click here:


Sat., Jan. 25

8:30 am - 3:30 pm - Stanford Women In Business (SWIB) Young Women’s Leadership Summit (Stanford University Campus) - This year, the Summit will be focused on providing female-identifying high school girls with a broader sense of the business world. Although they are targeting Juniors and Seniors, the event is open to all grades. Students will have the opportunity to hear from inspiring female industry leaders, connect with Stanford students, and interact with other motivated high school students from around the country. The application opened November 15 and closes on December 13 at 11:59 PM PST. Click on this link to apply:
