Dear Students & Parents,

Here are some of the upcoming college-related events happening on campus or in our local area:

Fri., Jan. 24

2:00 pm - Deadline for sophomores and juniors to register for the February 1 practice ACT or practice SAT at Drake. Sophomores must be enrolled in Advanced Algebra, whereas there are no restrictions for juniors. Please email Lisa Neumaier ( or stop by her office to sign-up by the end of the school day.


Sat., Jan. 25

8:30 am - 3:30 pm - Stanford Women In Business (SWIB) Young Women’s Leadership Summit (Stanford University Campus) - This year, the Summit will be focused on providing female-identifying high school girls with a broader sense of the business world. Although we are targeting Juniors and Seniors, the event is open to all grades. Students will have the opportunity to hear from inspiring female industry leaders, connect with Stanford students, and interact with other motivated high school students from around the country. The application opened November 15 and closed on December 13 at 11:59 PM PST.

6:30-7:30 pm - College Chat Series: Collegiate Athletic Recruitment - Game on! The realities of college athletic recruitment (The College Planning Center, 125 Corte Madera Town Center, Corte Madera) - The College Planning Center offers free college-related workshops for students and parents. Thurs., Jan. 30

11:40 am - Study Year Abroad Info Mtg. (College & Career Center) - School Year Abroad is a nonprofit, study-abroad and homestay program for American high school students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. SYA students attend classes with over 60 other American students for an entire academic year, live with a carefully selected local family, engage in an exciting global curriculum that brings the language and history of Europe or Asia to life, and travel extensively throughout their host country. 

6:30-8:30 pm - Clarkson University reception for prospective students (Saratoga Country Club, 21990 Prospect Rd., Saratoga, CA) - One of Clarkson’s greatest assets is their alumni network. Come be part of a reception where alumni will share their experiences with prospective students and guidance counselors. You will be able to hear first hand about the great achievements and opportunities their CU education has helped to shape. RSVP here


Sat., Feb. 1

9:00 am - 1:00 pm - Practice ACT/Practice SAT at Drake (classrooms TBA) - Juniors can take a full-length practice test on this date if they sign-up with Lisa Neumaier by Friday, January 24. To sign-up, either stop by the College & Career Center or email Lisa indicating which practice test you want to take and provide a student and parent email address. Sophomores enrolled in Advanced Algebra can also sign-up for one of these tests and should contact Lisa Neumaier by January 24. 


Wed., Feb. 5

5:30 pm - Marin Explorer Post 350 Open House/Meeting (53 Clemente Drive, Corte Madera) - Come explore a career in law enforcement at this Open House.


Sat., Feb. 8

9:00 am - 1:00 pm - Education Summit 2020 (Cal State East Bay, University gymnasium, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd., Hayward) - This is a free event for first generation, African American, Asian American, Latino, Native American and Pacific Islander students and their families. Learn how to prepare for college through presentations and workshops. Questions? Contact 510-885-2556


Tues., Feb. 11

11:40 am - Scores Back event for students who take the Practice ACT or Practice SAT on February 1. Students are asked to stop by the College & Career Center to pick up their results and can get their standardized test questions answered. Parents of these students are also invited to attend if they have questions.


Wed., Feb. 12

2:55 pm - U.S. Army Recruiter (Table by senior tree)

Deadline for juniors to apply for the 10,000 Degrees Institute - Juniors with financial need are eligible to apply to be part of the 10,000 Degrees program and their Summer Institute. 10,000 Degrees helps students with the college application process, financial aid counseling and provides scholarships support.
