Time-sensitive info re: scholarships requiring a nomination from Drake staff (sent 1/30/20)
Hopefully all of you are regularly looking at the list of scholarships on Naviance as new ones are constantly being added. You can find the entire list by going to the colleges tab, then scholarships and money, then click on scholarship list.
There are a few that require us to nominate students, so please read the descriptions below and contact me by the deadline if interested:
- Northern California Scholarship Foundations - Candidates must be U.S. Citizens, must have financial need, high GPA and test scores, outstanding moral character, participate in extracurricular activities, be willing to earn a portion of your expenses while in college, have a clear idea of which college courses you intend to pursue and some idea of what you intend to do for your life work. Let me know by 10:00 am on Monday, February 3.
- Bay Area All-Star Scholarship Team Program - Each of the seven Bay Area professional sports teams will select a recipient to be recognized for their dedication and hard work. Candidates must be legal residents, display leadership qualities in and out of the classroom, have a minimum GPA of 3.0 from sophomore to senior year, demonstrate the value of education, good work ethic and community outreach, and demonstrate a commitment to extracurricular activities. Let me know by the end of the school day on Monday, February 3.
- CIF Spirit of Sport Award - Drake can nominate one male and one female athlete who will participate in a spring sport. Our nominees will need to demonstrate exemplary sportsmanship, school/community service, and leadership (regardless of athletic ability). This award recognizes student-athletes who are positive role models within their schools and the community at-large. Let me know by the end of the school day on Thursday, February 13 if you would like to be one of our two nominees.
Gabe Reuter received the Bay Area All-Star Scholarship Team award last year from the Oakland Raiders and received $5,000!
