Instructional Coaching
Instructional Coaching 2020-21
“When teachers stop learning, so do students"- Jim Knight
Instructional coaches have merged with site mentors! In the past, site mentors worked with Year 1 and Year 2 teachers new to the district, while instructional coaches worked with veteran teachers and paraeducators. This year, the instructional coaches are working with both groups. We are here to support teacher growth and improve student learning. Our focus is on equity and access with the intent to serve all our students!
Instructional coaches will partner with educators to reflect upon, deepen, and broaden their instructional practices. As a result, our students will master core competencies while increasing opportunities for learning and narrowing the achievement gaps.
Instructional Coaching encourages collaboration and reflective practices, embeds professional learning that promotes positive cultural change, increases data used to inform practice, and keeps the focus on teaching and learning. As instructional coaches, our work is meant to be non-evaluative, collaborative, supportive, and focused on the needs of participants. Coaching is optional, do you want to improve your practice?
